Solar Battery
Solar Battery

Sonoma State University is delighted to announce our partnership with Total Energies in a Private/Public agreement to complete a campus Solar/Battery project which will consist of a 4 megawatt solar array, and 1.5 megawatt backup battery bank.  It's estimated this project will save $6.2 million dollars in PG&E utility costs over the next 30-years.  The project is currently in construction and scheduled to be completed Spring of 2026.

North Lakes
North Lakes Renovations

We are currently working on a project to rehabilitate our campus North Lakes. Not only do the North Lakes create a great landscape feature for our campus patrons, provide a natural habitat for our California native wildlife, they also serve as a backup water supply for our campus fire and irrigation systems. The project will include dredging, as well as infrastructure improvements to improve overall water quality. The project is currently in the design phase, and is scheduled to be completed Summer 2025.

Verizon Cellular Tower

The university is contracting with Verizon for the implementation of a communications tower on the west side of campus. Project equipment and infrastructure would include a 135-foot-tall “monopine” cellular tower designed and painted to resemble a pine tree for visual compatibility with the surrounding landscape. The project site is generally located in the northwestern-central portion of campus, at the northern end of residence hall Parking Lot R3, and along the western property line, west of Zinfandel Village and southwest of Cabernet Village student housing complexes. The project site will occupy the unpaved area south of a fenced yard containing the campus Wastewater Equalization Tank Structure (Campus Building No. 13) and associated equipment and west of the paved area.
