Projects
Sonoma State University is delighted to announce our partnership with Total Energies in a Private/Public agreement to complete a campus Solar/Battery project which will consist of a 4 megawatt solar array, and 1.5 megawatt backup battery bank. It's estimated this project will save $6.2 million dollars in PG&E utility costs over the next 30-years. The project is currently in construction and scheduled to be completed Spring of 2026.
We are currently working on a project to rehabilitate our campus North Lakes. Not only do the North Lakes create a great landscape feature for our campus patrons, provide a natural habitat for our California native wildlife, they also serve as a backup water supply for our campus fire and irrigation systems. The project will include dredging, as well as infrastructure improvements to improve overall water quality. The project is currently in the design phase, and is scheduled to be completed Summer 2025.
FEDERATED INDIANS OF GRATON RANCHERIA LEARNING CENTER AT FAIRFIELD OSBORN PRESERVE
Sonoma State University's planned Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria Learning Center at Fairfield Osborn Preserve consists of improvements to the existing visitor center and adjacent grounds at the Fairfield Osborn Preserve in Sonoma County. The 450-acre Preserve is managed by the Sonoma State University Center for Environmental Inquiry and serves as a teaching, gathering, and outdoor exploration space that is frequented by students, faculty, visitors, and community members including Native American tribes. The visitor center, currently known as the Marjorie Osborn Education and Research Center, will be renamed the "Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria Learning Center at Fairfield Osborn Preserve" upon project completion.
